Heels, Peels and Reveals: A Burlesque Skills Series

Step into the details that make burlesque so delicious. Heels, Peels & Reveals is a progressive 4-week series exploring essential elements of the burlesque art form: how you move in your heels, how to tease the audience and how you take it all off!

This series will run in three separate 4-week sessions throughout the fall, with each session focusing on a different skill set: Heels, Peels, or Reveals. Each class builds upon the previous week, giving you the opportunity to develop technique, confidence, musicality, and performance quality rather than simply learning a one-off routine.

HEELS-September

Learn how to walk, strut, pose, dance, and maneuver confidently in your burlesque heels. We'll work on posture, weight placement, balance, walks, transitions, across-the-floor combinations, and movement vocabulary that can be incorporated into your performances.

Please bring: A comfortable, walkable, danceable pair of heels no higher than 4 inches. Choose shoes you can safely move and dance in for an extended period of time.

PEELS-October

It's time to tease and please!  We'll explore the art of the peel, including glove, stocking, and other classic burlesque removal techniques. We'll work on technique, timing, musicality, tease, and ways to make even the simplest removal feel eye catching, intentional and delicious.

Please bring: Your own gloves, stockings, or other peelable accessories. Studio quantities will be limited, so bringing your own pieces is strongly encouraged.

REVEALS-November

What's underneath is only half the fun!  The reveal is all about how you get there, the anticipation you build to drive the audience wild!  We'll explore creative ways to reveal using different articles of clothing and costume pieces while playing with pacing, angles, musicality, misdirection, and audience engagement.

Please bring: A top, bottom, and/or costume pieces you can safely reveal, plus accessories such as a scarf, tie, boa, hat, robe, jacket, or similar items. Studio quantities will be limited.

IMPORTANT SERIES INFORMATION

This is a progressive 4-week series, not a drop-in class. Students must be able to commit to attending all four weeks of their chosen series.

Registration will close after the first class so that the group can remain consistent and focused as we build skills throughout the series.
